Years ago, when I was just a young guy tending bar in New York City, I befriended the author Kurt Vonnegut. During a night of riotous drinking, he introduced me to the artist Nicademis Hufford. They became like older brothers to me. Later on Nick, in his attempt to prod me, jokingly said "Bill, if you want to hang with us, you should either learn how to write or paint." Thank you Nick. ' After many years of owning restaurants in New York, and my subsequent career in the legal profession, I realized that I enjoyed painting above all else -- I hope you enjoy my work. P.S. -- Any of my art that you purchase will not have the Fine Art America Stamp on it. Bill All images are copyright © Bill O'Connor. All materials contained may...

Again, another interesting "blaze" of a piece here Bill. Couldn't help but read some of the comments below. Ahhh, yes we women do possess some sort of secret radar, some more than others. As a highly observant female myself, funny how that is. Well done!
Bill OConnor replied:
thanks Colleen -- as I have 6 sisters and me being the only son .............

Have been missing your fabulous tapestry of primary colors...that beautiful red and great yellows which just scream out from their sectioned stations, the plot unfolding in the bright lights of your lovely oil paintings!!! Wow, Bill. Love this one. F/L++
Bill OConnor replied:
hi Nancy -- thanks for all that -- I was playing with some colors. I always noticed, in my restaurant days, how women patrons always seemed to have a special radar, always turned on. Men; we didn't have a clue.

Bill, it is that powerful stuff that rules the world, mine - anyway, and Mme here is possessed of it - beautifully understood, Bill........

I love all of this, Bill.......so 'you'....including the 'sortie', nicely humourous, the image framed - within your image - a great element; 'your' pot plant, as required - again, am enjoying your lightness of being and humour; and am intrigued by there being three people in this 'romance', there's a story there, for sure. It's a wonderful, painterly work, Bill, and thought provoking, too........I could have simply said "nice work, Bill, as always''.....but it's been fun to share my thoughts in response. Some day I'd love to know which one she prefers.......the one easy to reach, nearby......or that elusive soul there in waiting, m'thinks, for her to realize what she's missing? ........Thanks, Bill........a great painting. fv.........VIVA
Bill OConnor replied:
hi Viva -- just started out as a junk piece I kept hanging around. Added to it as I recalled, when I had my NYC restaurants, how we men were so unaware of the secret radar possessed by the female patrons. Powerful stuff.
