dawn in Dijon
Years ago, when I was just a young guy tending bar in New York City, I befriended the author Kurt Vonnegut. During a night of riotous drinking, he introduced me to the artist Nicademis Hufford. They became like older brothers to me. Later on Nick, in his attempt to prod me, jokingly said "Bill, if you want to hang with us, you should either learn how to write or paint." Thank you Nick. ' After many years of owning restaurants in New York, and my subsequent career in the legal profession, I realized that I enjoyed painting above all else -- I hope you enjoy my work. P.S. -- Any of my art that you purchase will not have the Fine Art America Stamp on it. Bill All images are copyright © Bill O'Connor. All materials contained may...

This is EXACTLY what Dijon looks like! I was there 2 years ago, and remember those tan colored stucco houses along winding roads leading to the vinyards. Thanks for the memory you have captured, Bill.

Re-visit, because I find so much peace in the graceful beautiful painting....Cheers, Bill...............VIVA
Bill OConnor replied:
Viva - howdy! All's quiet on the Western Front (except for the animals rioting, spurned on by some very bad people). Still getting food delivered, etc. But life is good, hoping covid 19 and the rioters go away and a few politicians thrown in jail, but hey! Still painting most days, beautiful here in Morganton, North Carolina. Best to you Vivian -- it's always a treat hearing from you -- Bill (PS -- it is a peaceful oil isn't it)

Bill ... a new beauty for me to ooh and ahh over!!!! I love the way you worked the shadows and highlights into the buildings ... so elegantly nuanced!!!! What fun you must have had creating this beauty!!!! l/f t p
Bill OConnor replied:
thanks Lois - yes, it was fun. I miss spending time in Europe so much. Painting memories helps. Best to you and yours.

One of your very best....the smooth road giving a push forward to your beautiful textured green grassy bank and the streaked tones of the houses. I love every detail...Lovely lovely lovely! F/L+++
Bill OConnor replied:
-- Dijon is a large beautiful French city -- this was a quiet side street just north of it. Wonderful comments, thanks Nancy!!!

Bill, I am so at peace here, at this gentle turn of the road, amid these golden, moonlit minimal, painterly sturdy strong buildings in the darkness of this beautiful forest...Truly an earthy, earthly delight, is this calm place, beautiful painting...Kudos, fv,,,,VIVA
Bill OConnor replied:
