About Bill OConnor
Years ago, when I was just a young guy tending bar in New York City, I befriended the author Kurt Vonnegut. During a night of riotous drinking, he introduced me to the artist Nicademis Hufford. They became like older brothers to me. Later on Nick, in his attempt to prod me, jokingly said "Bill, if you want to hang with us, you should either learn how to write or paint." Thank you Nick. ' After many years of owning restaurants in New York, and my subsequent career in the legal profession, I realized that I enjoyed painting above all else -- I hope you enjoy my work. P.S. -- Any of my art that you purchase will not have the Fine Art America Stamp on it. Bill All images are copyright © Bill O'Connor. All materials contained may...

Magical and beautifully expressed!
Rosa Cobos
A magnetic closeness....and a distance created for giving us the impression of seclusion. I could rremember the "Popess" Tarot card...with with a sweet smile. I love it because it is calling, appealling and mysterious and really effective. Great. Rosa
Bill OConnor replied:
thanks Rosa; terrific analysis. I just wanted to put a human condition; memory and aloneness on canvas

Sigh, yes, my friend..........................."Isn't life strange A turn of a page A book without light Unless with love we write To throw it away To lose just a day The quicksand of time You know it makes me want to cry cry, cry Moody Blues copyright
Bill OConnor replied:
...Bingo Viva -- I think we should paint some impressionist harlequins and clowns to cheer us up.

I get so much from this, I don't know where to begin! Firstly, as if you read my mind, I spent last weekend just staring at and remembering both my elder brothers' old photos....and felt very alone....and here I am, sigh, great telepathy,Bill. I see so much symbolism here too....alone, but, there are two sturdy pillars (who?) for support, perhaps only in memory; the symbolism of the black is wonderful for your intent - kudos; and your subject, in the eerie light of memory...I could go on. I've thoroughly enjoyed this amazingly thoughtful, unique portrait. v.f.........VIVA
